The world's largest tire manufacturing facility, Goodyear Tire, was struggling to effectively dry strips of extruded rubber after using water to cool the tires. The tires must be 100% moisture free before moving down the line, which means the drying system must deliver superior performance and reliability in order to keep the line moving. The plant was experiencing issues with older drying technology slowing down the production line because the squirrel cage blowers they were using weren't delivering the necessary power, speed, or efficiency in drying. A leading wire manufacturer in India was having trouble removing its cleaning solution from wires that would end up on the final rolled product. Not only does this cause product quality issues, but there is also a high cost associated with the lost cleaning solution. The client had improvised a crude system of crimped pipes and compressed air, along with mechanical wipes to reduce carryover of the cleaning solution. The old system would carry a high price tag in energy costs and would put a strain on the rest of the plant's overall operations.
