Just as good salsa has the right amount of "kick," so too must the blowers used for blow off and drying during bottling. If the blowers and air delivery devices aren't sized properly, several issues may arise:

  • Inadequate drying, causing faults in the shrink wrap and labeling
  • Overpowering the system, resulting in excess energy usage and significantly higher costs.

A Paxton blower and air knife system was recently designed and installed at Sabra Dipping, Inc. for containers of salsa. Older bottling lines at the facility were using small "squirrel cage" blowers, and the engineer needed a better solution. The blowers were under powered for the bottling application and did not have enough shearing power to remove the water from the containers. For the salsa line, it was critical that the air delivery system was powerful enough to not only dry the tops and sides of the container, but also to blower water out from the underside of the container.

To achieve this objective, Paxton designed a system with a high efficiency blower coupled with several air knives. The Paxton blower was sized to be large enough to dry the containers but not oversized, to prevent excess energy usage. The design included the proper positioning of the air knives to ensure drying of all sides of the containers. Chat with an engineer now to get a system designed for you.
