I recently received a blower head for repair that was overheating. Upon inspection, I noticed a build up of debris inside the blower head, most likely due to inadequate filtration. The debris caused a significant decrease in the clearance between the impeller and the housing, resulting in premature failure due to the blower running hot, overheating the bearings.

Inadequate filtration is caused by both not changing the filter often enough, or the use of the wrong filter type. Cellulosic (paper-type) filters should not be used as any oil or water in the inlet air will cause these to break down rapidly.

Paxton filters are designed with a special synthetic medium that is resistant to oil and water and have sealed ends to prevent breakdown. A ten micron filter is most commonly used; but if cleaner air is needed, a one micron filter can be used. Paxton also offers a direct drive blower with outlet HEPA filtration for ultra-clean applications. Remember, though, the smaller the filter, the more frequently they must be replaced. We recommend the schedule shown for our 10 micron filters. Call or e-mail to order your replacement filter today. Remember to have your serial number handy. Learn more about Paxton filters.
